1. Surface Preparation

Surface must be dry, clean and free of dirt, grease, glue and existing coatings before staining. Sand the wood in the direction of the grain with a fine-grade sandpaper or pressure wash to clean surface. Do not allow pressure wash tip to get too close to prevent scoring or furring of wood grain. Remove all sanding dust. Allow wood to dry.

2. Product Preparation and Color Testing

Shake can well. Stir wood stain thoroughly before and during use. NewDeck may be diluted with water to achieve desired transparency. Recommended mix for translucent finish is 1 part NewDeck with 1 part water (1:1). Add more or less water depending on desired transparency. Test stain on an inconspicuous area to verify color and opacity.
3. Wood Stain Application (Covers Approximately 75 - 125 square feet per quart)

Apply wood stain in the direction of the grain with a brush, sprayer or clean cloth. Allow stain to penetrate and dry to achieve desired color. The more time the stain is allowed to penetrate, the richer the color will be. Remove stain that has not penetrated with a clean cloth. Wipe in the direction of the grain while blending light and dark areas to obtain uniform color. Do not allow stain that has not penetrated to dry on the surface. To darken color, apply a second coat after dry to the touch. Repeat directions for application of first coat. Do not sand between coats.

All wood stain is not created equal. NewDeck, for example, is an advanced infrared reflective wood stain. That's right. We said infrared reflective! What does that mean? It means NewDeck will keep your wood decks cooler and more comfortable to walk on during the hot summer months. A cool deck of sorts. Other stain manufacturers may offer a white wood stain, but is it an infrared reflective wood stain? Nope. That's because NewDeck is patent pending. It's the best wood deck stain you can get for treating just about any wood surface.

Need to know how to stain a deck? Download the Tech Data Sheet or watch the video. Stain your wood pool deck, fences, wood shingles, roof shakes, siding, and more! Using an infrared reflective wood treatment reduces the amount of heat absorbed by the material and increases the total solar reflectivity. This reduces the surface temperature. Pretty cool huh? Yeah. Pun intended.
